Middle East Technical University has ranked first in the “Most Successful Turkish Research Institutions” list with the amount of funding it received in Horizon Europe projects to be utilized from 2021 through 2027.
Horizon Europe is the research and innovation program supported by the European Union with the goal of a green, healthy, digital and inclusive Europe. The amount of financial support received by METU from the program has reached a total of 7.13 million euros.
Research institutions in Turkey were ranked by TÜBITAK, based on the official data published by the European Commission on August 22, 2022.

METU was the institution that won the highest number of awards thanks to its achievements in various projects such as the Black Sea CONNECT, BRIDGE-BS, NEOMATRIX, and SolarTwins, which it coordinated within the Horizon 2020 program, covering the years from 2014 to 2020. Additionally, METU ranked second with a research project worth 16.2 million euros in the Horizon 2020 program covering the years 2014-2020 and ranked first again with a research project worth 16.17 million euros in the 7th Framework Program covering the years from 2007 to 2013.
