In the 2022 edition of the Impact Rankings published by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the most prestigious university ranking institutions, Middle East Technical University has ranked first among the universities in Turkey and in the 101-200 band worldwide.
For the Impact Rankings, THE evaluates the contributions of universities to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. 58 higher education institutions from Turkey were included in the THE Impact Rankings 2022, in which a total of 1,406 higher education institutions from 106 countries were assessed according to many indicators in the fields of research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
According to the results, METU has significantly increased its score in 15 of 17 Sustainable Development Goals compared to last year. Thus, with a significant rise in the ranking, METU has successfully leaped from the 201-300 band to the 101-200 band worldwide. METU has ranked 31st in the world in the SDG titled “No Poverty” and 34th in the SDG titled “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure,” while ranking in the 101-200 band in SDGs titled “Decent Work and Economic Growth” and “Partnership for the Goals.”
