Institute Director Prof. Deniz Zeyrek-Bozşahin stated that the Graduate School of Informatics, established in 1996, is a thematic institute that promotes innovative and interdisciplinary academic research. She said that with their 12 master’s and five doctorate programs, all of which have interdisciplinary content, they train the scientists of the future and provide the new generation of researchers with a graduate-level education and research environment in the fields of informatics, information technologies, and other areas that interact with these fields. As Bozşahin stated, by conducting research programs and offering courses, they contribute to the development of our country in the fields such as big data, artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling, software management, medical image analysis, neuroscience, bioinformatics, human-machine interaction, cyber security, information security, and multimedia informatics. She also emphasized that the research programs carried out at their Graduate School have been supported by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, TÜBİTAK, and European Union projects; and that they have been developing innovative solutions to the problems in the field of information technologies with these research projects conducted with industry and public partnerships and cooperations.

Thus, the Graduate School of Informatics has an essential role in bringing added value to our country especially in the field of information technologies both academically and for the market. In the online event to be held, there will be speakers who are experts in the informatics-related fields from the world’s leading universities such as MIT and Stanford. The topics that will be covered in the event, which will also provide information regarding the studies being carried out within the Graduate School of Informatics, will be as follows: the future of higher education after the pandemic, examples of how AI, shared environments, and distributed sensing are changing interaction, empowering players through data, general trends in security and privacy, the past and the future of perceptual audio coding.
