Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the world-renowned UK-based company specialized in analyzing institutions of higher education, announced the 2022 World University Rankings by subject. Our University has ranked first in 10 subjects among the universities in Turkey while sharing first place with another university in 3 subjects, making Middle East Technical University the top-ranking university in Turkey in 13 subjects. METU has made it to the top 100 universities in the world in two subjects, while ranking in the top 200 in nine subjects and top 500 in 18 subjects.
In the QS 2022 rankings by subject, a total of 1543 most prominent institutions of higher education around the world were analyzed in 51 disciplines, grouped into 5 broad subject areas. By taking place in the ranking lists in 4 broad subject areas out of 5 and 19 subjects out of 51 disciplines, Middle East Technical University has been included in a total of 23 ranking lists. According to these results, METU has become the university to be included in the highest number of subject rankings in QS World University Rankings 2022 among the universities in Turkey.
When compared to the results of the 2021 rankings, METU has increased its position in seven subjects, which are Engineering & Technology, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Natural Sciences, Computer Science & Information Systems, Chemistry, Social Sciences & Management, and Statistics & Operational Research.
During the assessments to rank universities, QS takes into consideration several criteria with variable value points for each area, such as “Academic Reputation,” “Employer Reputation,” “Research Citations per Paper,” “International Research Network,” and “H-index” that measures the impact of the academic works.
