The winners of the Elginkan Foundation 2020 Turkish Culture, Research and Technology Awards have been announced.

Study of Assoc. Prof. Ulaş Yaman and Prof. Melik Dölen entitled as “Generation of Patterned Indentations for Additive Manufacturing Technologies” has been selected as the Best Design and Manufacturing Application paper by the journal of IISE Transactions.

METU was awarded two awards, including first prize, in “Patenting Turkey - 2nd National Universities Patent Competition” organized by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), at the ceremony on October 16, 2020.

Assistant Prof. Dicle Dövencioğlu, from METU Psychology Department, was awarded within the scope of the "For Women in Science" program, in cooperation with L'Oréal-UNESCO by her "Multidimensionality of softness perception in viscoelastic materials" project.

The Graduate Thesis and Course Performance Awards, aiming to reward the outstanding achievements of more than 7,000 graduate students, and to support their academic motivation at our five institutes actively continuing their education life within our university, were presented.

Altuğ Aydemir, a 2020 alum of our University’s Department of Economics, was honored to be one of the 12 economists shortlisted as “Highly Commended Entrants” in “The Global Undergraduate Awards”.

METU ROVER project was awarded the "Best Scientists" special award at the European Rover Challenge 2020, which is the most prestigious space and robotics competition in Europe, supported by the European Space Agency (ESA).

Assoc. Prof. Koray Kamil Yılmaz has been selected to be a member of the NASA “Global Precipitation Measurement Mission Science Team”, with his project titled “Ground Validation of GPM-Era Precipitation Products over Complex Topography of Turkey and the Mediterranean with a focus on Modeling Hydrologic Extremes”.

The student team of Prof. Semra Aşcıgil won first and first runner up prizes in graduate division of the 23rd International Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC).

Assistant Professor Batur Ercan from METU Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, is elected as one of 28 people to receive the award within the framework of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientists Award Program.
