METU Leads Research as Well

METU continues to have a say in national and international research and development projects as a research university.

METU continues to have a say in national and international research and development projects as a research university, in addition to being one of the leading educational institutions in our country with 44 undergraduate programs in five faculties, 112 graduate and 69 doctoral programs in five institutes.

Between 2014-2018,in the national arena, with 377 national projects among 183 universities countrywide, METU is in the first place receiving funds from TÜBİTAK , in the international arena, METU is the most successful Turkish research organization in the 7th Framework Program, and the second most successful in the Horizon2020 Program.

With more than 30 research centers, over 350 laboratories, the importance it attaches to university-industry cooperation and hosting the first Technopolis in Turkey, METU is selected as the most successful university in the 2018 TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurial Innovative University Index. METU Technopolis, since its establishment in 2001, is carrying out R&D studies with more than 8000 researchers in nearly 400 technology companies including global corporations such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, TUSAŞ, Siemens, NETAŞ, Tüpraş, Arçelik, Vestel, Samsung, and became a technology base where many technologies are being developed from unique helicopters to domestic UAVs, from national satellites to domestic warplanes, from 5G technology to smart TVs, makes a significant contribution to Turkey’s economy with technology exports worth USD 1.4 billion and total domestic technology sales of more than TL 17 billion. As a result of these efforts, an ecosystem where strategic technologies are being developed was put into practice at METU Northern Cyprus Campus under the name KALTEV, like METU Technopolis that is selected as the most successful Technopolis in performance based studies for six times in a row, by the Ministry of Industry and Technology since 2011.
