In line with its mission of “serving the community,” METU has established technology labs at Gazi High School and Ankara High School in honor of the 100th anniversary of our Republic.
Support will be provided to teachers utilizing these technology labs by METU Center for Society and Science Research (TBM) as well as METU professors and students.
Inside the METU Technology Labs, created with the themes “Explore,” “Research,” and “Design,” there are 3D printing workshops, robotic coding units, electronic circuit and robot sets, computers for programming, and various hand and design tools.
October 28: Gazi High School
The first of the technology labs to be established by METU in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey was officially opened on October 28, 2023, at Gazi High School in Altındağ, founded in 1932 under the directive of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. For the opening of the technology lab established by METU with the support of the Municipality of Altındağ, a ceremony was held with the participation of the METU President Prof. Dr. M. Verşan Kök, Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Eren Kalay, Altındağ Mayor Asım Balcı, Altındağ District National Education Director Hasan Yıldırım, as well as the administrators, teachers and students of Gazi High School.
In his speech at the ceremony, METU President Dr. Kök emphasized that they initiated the efforts to establish these technology labs as part of METU’s goal of holding 100 events in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, and he stated that the primary purpose of this project was to equip future generations with the power of science, technology, and art.
November 28: Ankara High School
As part of the series of events and projects held by METU for the 100th anniversary of our republic, the second technology lab has been established at Ankara High School, founded upon Atatürk’s order in 1923. The opening ceremony, held on November 28, was attended by the President of METU, Prof. Dr. M. Verşan Kök, TBM Director and Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Eren Kalay, Altındağ Mayor Asım Balcı, General Director of Innovation and Education Technologies under the Ministry of National Education (YİĞİTEK) Mustafa Canlı, Altındağ District National Education Director Hasan Yıldırım, in addition to the administrators, teachers and students of Ankara High School.
