Introducing the “60th Anniversary Commemorative Medallion” for METU’s First Alumni

This year marks the 60^th anniversary of the graduation of the Middle East Technical University, Class of 1960, the very first cohort to graduate. METU owes its current status as a pioneer and leader to these alumni, who have not only made invaluable contributions to the development of our country but also inspired loyalty to METU values and idealism in the new generations. To honor and extend our deepest gratitude to the first alumni, the METU Alumni Office has commissioned a “60^thAnniversary Commemorative Medallion”.

The “60^th Anniversary Commemorative Medallions” were to be presented to the Class of 1960 at a special ceremony on June 29^th, 2020, on the occasion of the annual METU Alumni Day, celebrated since 1991. With the pandemic precluding any ceremonies or events planned for 2020, the framed medallion as well as a congratulatory message from the President, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, are being delivered to our first alumni for METU Alumni Day 2020.

When the first graduating class of METU received their diplomas at the end of the 1959-1960 Academic Year, they set us on the path we proudly walk as members of the METU family, honoring their legacy, always and forever. We present the class of 1960:
