The results of the first period of the “Patent-Based Technology Transfer Support Call” opened by TÜBİTAK have been announced. Four inventions developed by METU faculty members and licensed to leading companies in their field have been awarded.
Prof. Dr. Barış Binici from Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Bilge Demirköz from Department of Physics, Prof. Dr. Vasıf Hasırcı from BIOMATEN and Prof. Dr. Erhan İlhan Konukseven from the Department of Mechanical Engineering were entitled for support. In this call, METU’s success rate was 80 percent.

About the Patent-Based Technology Transfer Support Call
TÜBİTAK announced a new call titled “Patent-Based Technology Transfer Support Call” in order to transfer the patented technologies developed in Universities, Research Institutions and Technology Development Zones (TDZs) to the industry. Within the scope of the call, which will be opened twice a year, joint applications of a “Customer Organization” and at least one “Technology Provider” are accepted.
In the call, the expenditure and expenses of the Customer Organization regarding the acquisition of technologies that meet the conditions specified in the call announcement and protected by the patent(s) owned by the Technology Provider through licensing or transfer methods, and the service procurement from the Technology Provider to apply these technologies are financed. Through this call, it is aimed to transfer the technologies developed by the Technology Provider to the industry to be transformed into products, services and processes with high added value, and to make use of the know-how of the Technology Provider for companies operating in high technology fields.
