EuroCC, a project supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Framework, has officially started on September 1, 2020 with participation of 33 countries and METU as one of its Turkish partners (https://hpc-portal.eu/ and https://eurocc.truba.gov.tr).
The project, through the establishment of national High Performance Computing (HPC) Competence Centers in participating countries, will support interdisciplinary collaborations in today’s important areas such as material sciences, molecular dynamics, bioinformatics, fluid dynamics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and will create a national platform to develop industry-university cooperation, together with a Europe-wide network of HPC Competence Centers.
The primary goal of the project is to transfer academic competence to small and medium-sized enterprises. SMEs that want to receive consultancy or training on such subjects as optimization of the current HPC applications, transition from international HPC centers to local resources, introduction to the use of HPC for particular applications and similar issues will be able to receive consulting from our academicians. In addition, various training workshops, winter and summer schools, seminars, and similar activities will be organized within the scope of the project.
The events organized within the project can be accessed at https://indico.truba.gov.tr/category/1/. In addition, the METU coordinator of the project, Assoc. Prof. Hande Toffoli (ustunel@metu.edu.tr) is available for answering any further questions.
