A signing ceremony was held for the projects accepted for funding as part of “2244 Industrial PhD Program” initiated by TUBITAK for the training of qualified human resources with PhD degree as required in the privileged areas in industry in cooperation with university and industry.
517 PhD students will be trained in line with the needs of the industry through 120 different cooperation projects to be carried out by 33 different universities, including METU, with 77 companies. During their education, students will be paid 4,500 Turkish lira scholarship per month and receive employment support for 3 years after graduation.
Within the scope of the program, 11 applications to train 50 PhD students in partnership with METU and 8 industrial organizations were accepted, and 47 PhD students were found eligible to receive scholarship.
Based on the idea that the structural transformation would be possible with qualified human resources in industry, the Industrial PhD Program that focuses on companies’ needs will ensure that the university-industry cooperation will turn into a corporate and sustainable one rather than a temporary project and will make great contributions to the future goals of Turkey.
